Explore one of the most striking attractions of Rome on this 2-hour tour! Castel Sant’Angelo was originally built as a mausoleum for the Roman Emperor Hadrian and his family in the 2nd century AD and later transformed into a Castle in the 14th century.

Throughout its existence the fortress was used as a Popes private residence, as a prison, as a place for public executions and as the State Treasury.
